Blue Light Glasses — Trendy or Trustworthy?
If you’re like me, you spend 75% of your day looking at a screen. That sounds bad, but to be fair, eight hours of the day is looking at a screen for work. The other hours…let’s just say they’re not as productive.
Also, if you’re like me, you have headaches and/or eye aches by the end of a screen-staring day. Without fail, everyday around 4:30 PM I get achy right behind my eyes. By the time it’s 10 PM and I’m on my sixth episode of Parks and Rec (that I may have already seen 100 times), I have to close my eyes during commercials to feel relief. I know, I know. A) I should probably cut down on my screen time. B) I should probably see an eye doctor. But, being a millennial, I know neither of those things will happen anytime soon (or ever), so I decided to give blue light glasses a try.
To be completely honest, I’ve been hesitant to try blue light glasses for a while because the ones that advertise on my Insta feed are $80-$120. Seems kind of steep for glasses that don’t have prescription lenses, right? Turns out, there’s plenty of options out there for way less, if you’re motivated enough to do a little digging.
I bought Cyxus Retro Vintage Computer Glasses for $30, and let me tell ya, I wish I’d bought them sooner! The first day I wore them, I noticed a difference. No headaches, no eye aches or strain, nothing. At first, I only used them when looking at my computer at work. Since then, however, I now use them anytime I’m looking at a screen—computer, phone or TV.
Overall, I’d definitely say blue light glasses are a trustworthy product. They’ve basically eliminated my end-of-day headaches. (Hopefully they make me look a little smarter at work, too.) I’d recommend them to anyone who spends the majority of their time staring at a screen—so, basically, anyone born after 1989. Cheaper than a doctor’s visit, and my problems have been solved!
